| The ECDL - EUROPEAN COMPUTER DRIVING LICENCE - concept was developed as part of the work of the User Skills Task Force set up by CEPIS - Council of European Professional Informatics Societies and its member societies ιν 1996.
The whole work was completed with EU Funding within the Leonardo and ESPRIT Projects.
The ECDL has been introduced and is successfully operatin in all European Union, Scandinavian and Eastern European countries, the USA, Canada, Australia, China and a number of African countries (i.e Zimbabwe, South Africa).
The ECDL is currently the only independent international certificate of end-user IT Skills.
